Meet Our Counselors
Matt & Carrie Ellis
M.S. / L.M.H.C.& PCIT CERTIFIED
Matt (M.S. & L.M.H.C.) and I, Carrie (L.M.H.C & PCIT Certified), are a husband and wife partner counseling team. Through our unique experience, we came to this profession and have been called by God to reach and serve families. The majority of our work is assisting families formed through adoption. We also work with biological families experiencing internal strife and adults struggling with unresolved childhood trauma, and couples in distress seeking a closer relationship.
We have been married for 25 years. In that time, we have raised two children from “hard places,” one as a relative caregiver and the other from foster care, and have mentored others. We’ve also been respite providers and group home relief parents. We have provided psychoeducational and support groups to foster and adoptive families for 15 years. One thread of truth we repeatedly hear from families we have served is, “Why didn’t we know about attachment and trauma sooner?”
We are passionate about assisting children, teens, adults, parents, and couples who need help navigating post-adoption issues, trauma, anxiety, depression, stress from life transitions, and relationship issues. We are grounded in attachment and Trust-Based Relational Intervention techniques but use various therapeutic techniques appropriate to the client, including Theraplay informed practices, EMDR, Safe and Sound Protocol, Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy principles and practices, Touchpoints, Circle of Security, and CBT.
